QR codes make it easy for patients to land directly on your website with a quick scan, whether that's from a poster or a business card. This guide walks you through creating a QR code for your website and sharing it in a few common ways.

Before you start

Jane Websites doesn't generate QR codes directly, so you'll want to use a free QR code generator, such as QR Code Generator or Canva, along with your website's URL.

How to Create a QR Code for Your Website

You can create a scannable QR code through a variety of third party QR code creators. Follow the steps below to generate one for your website.

  1. Copy your website's URL from your browser's address bar.
  2. Go to a QR code generator, such as Adobe's QR Code Generator, Bitly's QR Code Generator or Canva's QR Code Generator.
  3. Paste your website URL into the generator's link field.
  4. Customize the QR code's colour or style, if the tool allows it.
  5. Click Generate or Create QR Code.
  6. Download the QR code image to your computer, usually as a PNG or SVG file.

How to Share Your QR Code

Once you have your QR code saved, there are a few common ways to put it to use, whether that's digitally or in print.

  1. First, to test your QR code before sharing widely, scan the QR code yourself using your phone's camera to confirm it leads directly to your website.
  2. To share it digitally, upload the QR code image to your email signature or social media posts.
  3. To share it in print, add the QR code image to posters, business cards, brochures, or in-clinic signage using your preferred design or printing software.

You're all set! Your QR code is ready to share, giving patients a fast, simple way to find your website wherever you place it.

Note

QR codes link to a specific URL at the time they're created. If your website's domain changes in the future, you'll need to generate a new QR code, since the old one will still point to the previous address.
