Serving patients in more than one language? Here's how Jane Websites supports a secondary language version of your site, including how translations work and what it involves to set one up.
Before you start
Jane Websites supports the site structure needed for a secondary language version of your website, but translating the content itself is the clinic's responsibility.
Can Jane Websites support a secondary language version of my website?
Yes. Jane Websites can support a second version of your clinic website in any secondary language, such as French, Spanish, Mandarin, or any others.
How does a secondary language website typically work?
Your clinic will first create your website in the primary language. Once that's built out, you'll email support@janewebsites.com and we will duplicate the site for your secondary language version. From there, your clinic goes into the duplicated site and translates the content, for example, translating the site over to Spanish. The two versions are then linked together, so visitors can switch between languages while browsing your site.
Who handles the translations?
Clinics are responsible for completing the translations themselves. Jane Websites handles duplicating the site and setting up the structure so both versions work together, but we don't provide translation services.
Is there an extra cost for a secondary language website?
No. There's no additional charge for setting up a secondary language website, regardless of the language or country. If you need more than one translated site, then all additional versions are at a discounted rate of $39/month per site.
Is there an alternative to building a fully separate language version?
Yes. If you'd prefer an automated translation option instead of maintaining a fully separate language version, our support team can install a third-party translation widget, such as Elfsight.

That's it! If this article didn't fully answer your question, our support team is here for you. Contact us at support@janewebsites.com, we're happy to help!
Note
Since translations are completed by the clinic, keep in mind that any updates made to one language version won't automatically appear in the other. You'll want to update both versions separately to keep them consistent with eachother.
