If you've just launched your site or updated your domain and can't see your website, don't worry, as this is a common experience right after going live. When your domain is connected, DNS propagation begins, and during that window your browser may not yet recognize where your site lives. This guide walks you through what's happening and how to get back in.

Things to know

DNS propagation is the process of your new domain spreading across the internet, and it can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to complete. During this time, your site may load inconsistently or your website may appear unavailable. You don't need to do anything to trigger propagation, it happens automatically once your DNS records are saved.

Roadblocks After Launching your Website

Below are the most common reasons why you may not be about to log in right after connecting your domain, with clear steps to help you get back in.

My webpage isn't loading after I connected my domain

  1. Wait 10 to 15 minutes after saving your DNS records before attempting to log in to allow the records to update.
  2. Open a new private or incognito browser window. This clears any cached version of your site your browser may be holding onto.
  3. In the address bar, navigate directly to yourclinicname.com/login, replacing yourclinicname.com with your actual domain.
  4. Enter your credentials as usual to log in.

I can see the website from one device but not another

  1. On the device where you're not able to see your website, open a private or incognito window.
  2. Navigate directly to yourclinicname.com/login.
  3. If this works, clear the browser cache and cookies on that device to resolve the issue permanently.
  4. If it does not work, confirm that the device is connected to the internet and try again in 30 minutes, as propagation may not have reached all networks yet.

I have tried all the above troubleshooting steps, and I am still unable to see my website.

  1. Confirm that your DNS records were saved correctly by logging in to your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Hover, Bluehost, etc.) and verifying that your A Record is set to 52.89.243.208 and your CNAME for www is set to loadbalancer.clinicsites.co.
  2. Check whether any duplicate or conflicting A Records or CNAME records exist, as these can block propagation from completing.
  3. If your DNS records are correct and you're still not able to login after 24 hours, email our Support team at support@janewebsites.com and we'll dive in to give you a hand.

Note

DNS propagation is a normal part of going live with a custom domain. It isn't a sign that something went wrong, it just means the internet is catching up to your new domain settings. Most clinics are fully accessible within a few minutes to a few hours. If things still aren't resolving after 24-48 hours, that's when to reach out to support@janewebsites.com.
